Getting started

What is Be Kat Strong?

+

Be Kat Strong is a San Diego–based personal training and functional fitness community focused on helping women and men build strength, improve mobility, and feel confident in their bodies for the long term.

Do I need to be in shape to start?

+

No. Classes and coaching are designed for all levels, and we offer modifications, progressions, and form cues so beginners and experienced trainers can gain strength and mobility safely together. If you want to start with one of our introductory on-demand workout videos, that is a great way to build a habit of getting in shape too.

How do I get started with training?

+

Most clients start by booking a small group class or an assessment so Kat can learn your goals, movement history, and experience, then recommend the right mix of classes, individual training, or programming.

Small group classes

What are Be Kat Strong small group classes like?

+

Small group classes are specifically designed for the group that comes in (women's strength, men's longevity, mobility, smart yoga and more). Our classes blend functional training, mobility, and conditioning in a supportive, community setting. You get personalized coaching and form feedback while still benefiting from the energy of a group.

How many people are in each class?

+

Class sizes are intentionally kept small so BKS coaches can watch technique closely, offer individualized adjustments, and make sure everyone feels seen and supported.

Are the classes suitable for beginners?

+

Yes. Kat specializes in helping women and men learn to build strength safely, increase mobility from the ground up, and progress at a pace that feels challenging but sustainable.

Individual training

Who is individual training best for?

+

One-on-one training is ideal if you have specific goals, previous injuries, or prefer highly personalized coaching and programming. Kat and our other coaches use a corrective-exercise and strength-based approach to help you move better, reduce pain, and feel strong in everyday life.

What happens in a personal training session?

+

Sessions typically include a movement prep or mobility warmup, strength and conditioning work tailored to your plan, and cooldown or corrective work to support recovery and longevity.

Programming membership

What is a programming membership?

+

A programming membership gives you a structured, progressive training plan to follow on your own, built using the same principles Kat uses in her coaching. It's a great option if you're comfortable training solo but still want expert guidance and a plan that actually moves you toward your goals.

Do I need to live in San Diego for programming?

+

No. Programming can be followed from anywhere, making it ideal for remote clients, frequent travelers, or anyone who wants Be Kat Strong structure without in-person sessions.

On-demand workout videos

How do the on-demand workout videos work?

+

You get access to a pre-programmed class or goal of Be Kat Strong workout videos that you can stream on your own schedule, including strength, mobility, and conditioning sessions. Each video is coached by Kat so you still feel guided, even when you're training at home or on the road.

Are the videos suitable if I'm new to strength training?

+

Yes. Many videos are beginner-friendly with clear demonstrations, coaching cues, and options to scale movements up or down based on your level.

Community and culture

What is the community like at Be Kat Strong?

+

Be Kat Strong is intentionally community-driven, especially in the women's small group classes, which are designed to build support, accountability, and real friendships—not competition. Expect a welcoming, judgment-free space where everyone is working to get stronger together.

I'm nervous about being judged. Is this a good fit for me?

+

Yes. BKS' approach is low-pressure and encouraging, with a focus on progress, not perfection or aesthetics. We keep the classes small and our boutique studio creates a supportive environment that helps you feel comfortable quickly.

Logistics

How do I book a class or session?

+

You can book directly through the Be Kat Strong website's scheduling system or by contacting BKS for help choosing the best starting point. Once you've created an account, you'll be able to reserve classes, manage your schedule, and stay updated on offerings.

What should I bring to my first session?

+

Wear comfortable workout clothes and supportive shoes, and bring a water bottle and small towel. If you have any past injuries or concerns, bring notes so you can share them with us before you start.

How often should I train each week?

+

Most clients see great results with two to three strength-focused sessions per week, paired with walking or other low-impact movement on non-training days. BKS can help you find the right mix based on your goals, schedule, and recovery.

Parking and arrival

Is there parking available?

+

Yes, there is convenient parking in front of the studio so you can get in and out of your session easily. BKS Central, the studio, is around the back of the building where you can easily park.

Restrooms and changing

Are there restrooms at the studio?

+

Yes, restrooms are available on-site for clients before and after class.

Is there a place to change or freshen up?

+

There is a restroom where you can change clothes and freshen up, but it's a training studio rather than a full locker-room setup, so we recommend arriving in your workout gear when possible.
